Top 6 Health & Safety Management Software Platforms in 2026:

My Take After Visiting the Melbourne WHS Show

A few weeks ago, I attended the Workplace Health & Safety Show in Melbourne. As someone who spends a significant amount of time helping businesses implement and maintain ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems, I was particularly interested in the growing number of software providers exhibiting at the event.

What stood out to me was how much the health and safety software market has matured. Gone are the days when businesses relied solely on spreadsheets, paper forms and disconnected folders. Today's platforms are offering integrated solutions that manage incidents, hazards, audits, corrective actions, inductions, contractor management and compliance obligations in one place.

After speaking with exhibitors and reviewing demonstrations, these are the six platforms that stood out to me.

Disclaimer: This is not a paid review or endorsement. These observations are based on demonstrations, discussions with exhibitors, publicly available information and my own experience working with Australian businesses.

1. Worx Safety (formerly Work Safety)

worxsafety logo

Best suited for:

10–300 employees

Cost:

Affordable to Mid-Range

My impression:

Worx Safety appears to be designed specifically for Australian businesses that need practical contractor, site and safety management without the complexity of enterprise systems. The platform focuses heavily on contractor compliance, onboarding, inductions, permits and project management. Pricing is transparent, which is refreshing in a market where many vendors require a sales call before revealing costs. Plans start from approximately AUD $313 per month.

Strengths:

Strong contractor management

Digital inductions

Project-based safety management

Transparent pricing

Good fit for construction and field operations

Potential limitation:

May not offer the same depth of enterprise governance and risk management capabilities as some larger platforms.

2. Skytrust

Best suited for:

20–500 employees

Cost:

Affordable

My impression:

Skytrust impressed me as one of the more practical solutions for SMEs looking to digitise their ISO and WHS systems. The platform covers safety, quality, environment, risk and compliance management in a single system. I particularly liked its focus on dashboards, automated reminders and integrated management systems. The company promotes month-to-month pricing with no lock-in contracts, which is attractive for growing businesses.

Strengths:

Strong alignment with ISO systems

Incident and hazard reporting

Risk registers

Audits and inspections

Affordable entry point

Suitable for businesses transitioning from spreadsheets

Potential limitation:

Larger enterprises may eventually require more advanced customisation and integration capabilities.

3. Kintone

Best suited for:

20–1,000+ employees

Cost:

Moderate

My impression:

Kintone is different from the others. It is not purely a safety management platform. Instead, it is a no-code business process platform that can be configured to manage safety, quality, projects, workflows and virtually any business process. The demonstrations showed impressive flexibility, allowing organisations to create custom workflows without coding.

Strengths:

Highly configurable

No-code platform

Excellent workflow automation

Suitable for businesses with unique processes

Can extend beyond WHS into broader business management

Potential limitation:

Requires more setup and design effort than an out-of-the-box WHS solution.

4. RiskWare

Best suited for:

100–5,000+ employees

Cost:

Premium

My impression:

RiskWare was probably the most sophisticated risk-focused platform I reviewed at the show. Developed in Melbourne, it has evolved beyond traditional safety software into a comprehensive risk, compliance and governance platform. The addition of AI-assisted risk management tools and advanced risk analytics positions it strongly for larger organisations and government agencies.

Strengths:

Enterprise risk management

Incident investigations

Governance and compliance modules

Advanced reporting

AI-enabled risk analysis

Suitable for complex organisations

Potential limitation:

Likely more functionality (and cost) than most SMEs require.

5. HSI Donesafe

Best suited for:

100–10,000+ employees

Cost:

Expensive

My impression:

Donesafe was one of the most impressive enterprise-grade platforms at the event. It offers a highly configurable environment covering health and safety, environment, quality, governance, contractor management, training and ESG reporting. What stood out was its ability to scale from smaller operations to large multinational organisations while keeping all compliance activities within a single ecosystem.

Strengths:

Comprehensive EHSQ platform

Highly configurable

Excellent reporting and dashboards

Strong integration capabilities

Suitable for multi-site organisations

Potential limitation:

The platform can be overwhelming for smaller businesses and generally requires a larger implementation budget. Public pricing examples suggest annual costs can range from several thousand dollars to significantly more depending on workforce size and modules selected.

6. Ideagen

Best suited for:

250–10,000+ employees

Cost:

Premium to Enterprise

My impression:

Ideagen has become a major player globally in governance, risk, compliance, quality and safety management. While its offering extends far beyond workplace health and safety, it is particularly attractive for organisations operating in highly regulated industries. The platform appears best suited to organisations seeking an integrated compliance ecosystem rather than simply a WHS solution.

Strengths:

Strong compliance management

Document control

Audit management

Quality and safety integration

Enterprise scalability

Potential limitation:

Implementation complexity and cost may place it beyond the needs of many small and medium-sized businesses.

My Overall Rankings

Best for Small Businesses (10–100 Employees)

Skytrust

Worx Safety

Kintone

Best for Medium Businesses (100–500 Employees)

Skytrust

Donesafe

RiskWare

Best for Large Organisations (500+ Employees)

Donesafe

RiskWare

Ideagen

Final Thoughts

After visiting the Melbourne WHS Show, one thing became clear: there is no single "best" safety management software.

The right choice depends on the size of your organisation, the complexity of your operations, your compliance obligations and your budget.

For smaller Australian businesses seeking an affordable way to digitise their safety systems, Skytrust and Worx Safety stood out. For organisations wanting maximum flexibility, Kintone offers significant possibilities. For larger and more complex businesses, Donesafe, RiskWare and Ideagen provide enterprise-grade capabilities that extend well beyond traditional safety management.

The good news is that Australian businesses now have access to a wide range of capable solutions. The challenge is no longer finding software, it is choosing the platform that best fits your business and your management system.
