Here we explain the major steps that must be taken in order to get ISO 14001. The dates are used as an example and to be noted this timeframe can be changed or shortened based on client's preparedness and collaboration.




1. Preparation Phase (2.5 months)


- Gap Analysis (1 month): September 15, 2024 - October 14, 2024

- Leadership Commitment (2 weeks): October 15, 2024 - October 28, 2024

- Training and Awareness (1 month): October 29, 2024 - November 27, 2024


2. Planning Phase (3.5 months)


- Define Scope and Context (2 weeks): November 28, 2024 - December 11, 2024

- Environmental Policy (2 weeks): December 12, 2024 - December 25, 2024

- Environmental Aspects and Impacts (1 month): December 26, 2024 - January 24, 2025

- Compliance Obligations (2 weeks): January 25, 2025 - February 7, 2025

- Risks and Opportunities (2 weeks): February 8, 2025 - February 21, 2025

- Environmental Objectives (2 weeks): February 22, 2025 - March 7, 2025


3. Implementation Phase (4 months)


- Operational Planning and Control (2 months): March 8, 2025 - May 6, 2025

- Documentation (1 month): May 7, 2025 - June 5, 2025

- Performance Evaluation (1 month): June 6, 2025 - July 5, 2025


4. Pre-Audit Phase (1.5 months)


- Internal Audit (2 weeks): July 6, 2025 - July 19, 2025

- Management Review (1 week): July 20, 2025 - July 26, 2025

- Corrective Actions (1 month): July 27, 2025 - August 25, 2025



5. Certification Audit (1 month)


- Stage 1 Audit (1 week): August 26, 2025 - September 1, 2025

- Stage 2 Audit (1 week): September 2, 2025 - September 8, 2025

- Certification Decision (2 weeks): September 9, 2025 - September 22, 2025


6. Post-Certification


- Continual Improvement (Ongoing): Begins September 23, 2025


Total Time from Start to Certification: Approximately 13 months

Some activities may overlap or be conducted concurrently, potentially shortening the overall timeline. Regular surveillance audits (typically annual) and recertification (every three years) should be planned for after initial certification.
